Terms of use and licence

1. These terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Festim Peposhi, Durres, Albania ("we", "us"), the maker of sufler. They cover the sufler app, including the trial, and this website. By installing or using sufler you agree to them. If you use sufler for your employer, you confirm that you may accept these terms for that use.

2. Buying a licence

Licences are sold through Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the reseller and merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy's buyer terms apply to the payment itself, including taxes, invoices and payment methods. Prices on sufler.me include VAT or sales tax where it applies.

3. The free trial

sufler runs with all features for 7 days from its first launch on a Mac, with no payment details needed. After the trial you need a licence key to keep using it.

4. Your licence

When you buy sufler, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and perpetual licence to install and use sufler version 1 (every 1.x release) on up to 2 Macs that you own or control, for your own personal or work use. Each person using sufler needs their own licence; a business buying for several employees needs one licence per person.

Updates within version 1 are included. A future major version (such as sufler 2) may be sold separately; your version 1 licence keeps working either way. We try to keep sufler working with new versions of macOS and meeting apps, but we can't promise updates or compatibility forever.

5. Activation

A licence key is activated on each Mac you use it on. sufler checks the key with our licence server when you activate it and about every 30 days afterwards, and keeps working offline for a further 14 days. To move sufler to another Mac, deactivate it on the old one in Settings › Licence. See our privacy policy for what these checks send.

6. What you may not do

• Share, sell, publish or transfer your licence key, or use it on more Macs than your licence allows.
• Remove, disable or get around the trial or licence checks.
• Copy, redistribute, rent out or resell sufler, or offer it as a service to others.
• Decompile or reverse-engineer sufler, except where the law allows it despite this restriction.
• Use sufler for anything unlawful, or to monitor people covertly in breach of their rights.

7. Your responsibility for your calls

sufler transcribes and translates what other people say. Laws on recording, transcribing and processing conversations differ between countries (including data protection laws such as the GDPR), and your workplace or the meeting organiser may have their own rules. You're responsible for following them, including telling participants or asking for their consent where that's required. sufler does not notify other participants that it's running.

8. Accuracy

sufler uses machine speech recognition, speaker identification and machine translation. The results can be incomplete, wrongly attributed to a speaker, or wrongly translated, especially with background noise, overlapping speech, accents, technical terms or less common languages. Don't rely on sufler alone for legal, medical, financial, safety-critical or other important decisions: check with the speaker or a qualified human translator.

9. Third-party software and services

sufler includes open-source software and models, each under its own licence, listed in the app under Settings › Acknowledgements and on our acknowledgements page. On first use, sufler downloads its speech and translation models from third-party servers. Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Mac and macOS are trademarks of their owners. sufler is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

10. Refunds

If sufler doesn't work for you, email hello@sufler.me within 14 days of your purchase and we'll refund you in full, no questions asked. Refunds are paid through Lemon Squeezy. When a purchase is refunded or charged back, its licence key is disabled. This doesn't limit any rights you have under consumer law.

11. No warranty

We work hard to make sufler reliable, but it is provided "as is", and to the extent the law allows, we give no warranties about it beyond those in these terms, including that it will be error-free or uninterrupted. If you're a consumer, this doesn't affect your statutory rights.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data or business interruption. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for sufler. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for intentional or grossly negligent conduct, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.

13. Ending the licence

Your licence lasts indefinitely, but ends automatically if you seriously breach these terms, for example by sharing your key or getting around the licence check. You can stop using sufler at any time.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Albania, and disputes go to the courts of Albania. If you're a consumer living elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country, and you may also bring claims in your own courts.

15. Changes and contact

We may update these terms, for example when we add features. The version shown here, with its effective date, applies from then on. It won't take away rights you already have under a licence you've bought. Questions: hello@sufler.me.
